Participants for this course must have successfully completed the ATV Ridercourse prior to receiving this training and must provide a copy of their ATV Ridercourse certification during registration and at the course. Advanced ATV rider training is intended for the rider who will likely take their ATV to remote areas and through difficult terrain.

Topics that are covered in this course include: emergency repairs, winching techniques and safety, remote riding preparedness, knots and lashing and advanced terrain riding. Students will receive practical experience in a safe environment prior to participating in a daylong ride through and over a variety of terrain during this 2 DAY course.

Participants who successfully and safely complete all components of this course will receive the National ATV Schools course completion certificate.

The student rider will need to bring their own safety equipment which will include the following:

  1. Approved motorcycle helmet (CSA, Snell, ANSI, and DOT).
  2. Eye protection (goggles, impact resistant glasses).
  3. Long sleeve shirt.
  4. Long pants.
  5. Ankle supporting closed toe footwear.
  6. Gloves.

The student is also expected to provide their own winch equipped ATV, which must pass a pre-course safety check prior to being allowed on the course. On the second day of training, riders will be expected to bring at least the basic tools covered during the first days’ training. Riders will likely encounter wet and muddy conditions and so the appropriate attire is the student’s responsibility. Waterproof footwear and raingear is highly recommended.

Students MUST bring their ATV owner’s manual to this course, given the tremendous variations in design and mechanical engineering with each manufacturer’s models.

NOTE: This course is physically demanding. Be sure to get your doctor’s permission if you suffer from any medical or physical condition that could affect your ability to undertake strenuous physical activity. Bring a lunch and non-alcoholic beverages for the day.

As of spring 2008, this course is only available in the Timmins area. A minimum of 6 students is required for this training. A maximum class size of 12 will be allowed.
