Participants
for this course must have successfully completed the ATV Ridercourse
prior to receiving this training. Towing a trailer with an ATV covers
the safety issues to consider prior to pulling a trailer with an ATV
such as equipment pre-inspection, loading and towing safety
considerations and affects on the ATVs’ handling. The student will
cover theory and practical lessons in a 3 hour class (depending on
class size) and will have personally towed at least two types of ATV
trailer with their ATV over various terrain by the completion of the
course. This training is frequently added to the ATV Ridercourse and
the ATV loading and unloading course to form a complete 1 ½ day
training program to prepare workers who will be towing a trailer with
an ATV in the work environment.
Participants who successfully and safely complete all components of
this course will receive the National ATV Schools course completion
certificate.
The student rider will need to bring their own safety equipment which will include the following:
- Approved motorcycle helmet (CSA, Snell, ANSI, and DOT).
- Eye protection (goggles, impact resistant glasses).
- Long sleeve shirt.
- Long pants.
- Ankle supporting closed toe footwear.
- Gloves.
The
student is also expected to provide their own ATV, which must pass a
pre-course safety check prior to being allowed on the course. Any
trailers provided by the participants must also pass a pre-course
safety check prior to being allowed on the course.
The
student should provide the trailer which they intend to tow with the
ATV to get the most benefit from the course. Many of the skills are
transferable to other trailer designs however each style may have it’s
own particularities. The trainers will provide two trailers per class
for general demonstration purposes. Training is held in all but extreme
weather and therefore appropriate clothing should be brought.
NOTE: This
course is not intended for ALL possible trailer types. Some designs
such as special function utility trailers, homemade or manufactured
trailers and rescue type trailers MAY require specialty training.
Please consult with National ATV Schools if you require specialty
training.
Toschedule training or for further information please contact National ATV Schools . Training is offered at a site near you or on location pending site approval.
